Literature Search Development Templates

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the team of OWI (we might need an ice breaker about the acronym when we formally meet).

I am leaving the WG mandates, goals, objectives, etc. (all those important, big picture stuffJ) until we are ready to start the WG. However, since OWI projects never stop, I am so excited to put all your experiences and talents in place right away (I am supposed to put another smiley face here).

Starting small today about the literature search development templates –

Why Lit Search Development Templates

-          A structural tool for reference interviews for complex evidence gathering projects

-          An educational tool to demonstrate the importance of framing questions

-          A documentation for accountability of what we do, and transparency in how we do it

-          To ensure consistency and standards in how we deliver our services

What are those templates

-         A general literature search development template for both published and unpublished literature searching (when the scope is unclear)

-          A grey literature search development template for focused unpublished literature searching

Who fill them out

-          SMEs, with assistance from the librarians and KMPSE consultants

Now, if I have provided sufficient context, can I ask you to please review these two templates that the STBBI and STQ projects have been using. Questions I am asking:

1.       Do you like them? If so, what part(s) of the forms you think are most useful or helpful?

2.       Is there any part that is not needed?

3.       What other info do we need to add to those forms?

Do I have a deadline for your feedback? No, they are living templates and we make constant changes to be adaptable. But I’d love to start hearing from you about your thoughts, ideas, comments, suggestions, concerns… about the templates, about the projects, and the WG, so we are not feeling alone in this.

A big thank-you,

Yongtao
